The Hindu Spiritual and Service Fair (HSSF) helps to showcase the good things being done by Hindu society, said Vijayendra Saraswati, the 70th pontiff of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the 10th edition of HSSF in the city on Tuesday.

He said the fair helps people learn about history and culture and also shows where we stand today. Praising the organisers for holding the event, he said more such functions should be held to propagate India’s history and culture to the world.

Omkarananda, head, Theni Vedapuri Aadiguru Sri Prajna Dakshinamurthy Vidyapeetam, wanted Hindus to unite to create a balanced society and protect it.

Other religious heads, including Sriperumbudur Appan Parakala Ramanuja Jeeyar, Swasthi Shree Thavalakeerthi and Guru Mahasannidhanam, gave their benedictions to the fair.

N. Ravi, Publisher, The Hindu, and member of the reception committee of the fair, said Hinduism is a religion based on the three principles of compassion, fellow feeling and service.

HSSF is being held on the Gurunanak College premises, Velachery, from January 30 to February 4. During the event, several spiritual and cultural activities will be held.
